Born on March 19, 1950, to Fred W. Mathias and Lillian H. (Bowers) Mathias, Lynn was raised in New Hampton where he attended New Hampton High School. He embarked on a life defined by dedication and a strong work ethic. Over the years, Lynn held a variety of jobs—driving truck, delivering and installing LP tanks, working at a gravel pit, and most recently, lending his talents to a local manufacturing plant. No matter the job, Lynn earned a reputation for being dependable, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand.
Lynn found his greatest joy in the outdoors. An avid fisherman, he spent countless hours casting lines on the Mississippi River and the lakes of northern Minnesota. He cherished the peace and quiet of nature, yet he also found fun in the friendly competition of seeing who could land the biggest catch—often alongside a good friend. His love of fishing wasn’t just about the fish; it was about the experience, the company, and the stories that came with it.
In addition to his time outdoors, Lynn enjoyed the thrill of a good rummage sale or auction. It was through one of these shared passions that he met the love of his life, Brenda, at a produce auction in 2018. The spark between them was instant, and together they shared over seven wonderful years filled with laughter, companionship, and a deep bond built on mutual love and appreciation.
Lynn will be remembered as a loyal friend, a dedicated worker, and a man who lived simply but fully—finding happiness in quiet moments, meaningful connections, and the beauty of the world around him
Lynn is survived by one brother, Alan Mathias of Hinckley, MN; special friend, Brenda of Charles City, IA; many nieces, nephews and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyle and Roy Mathias.
