Lillian Marie Bartz was born September 4, 1918, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Ahlmann) Debban. At an early age, the Debban family moved to Ionia, IA, where she attended rural country school and graduated from the Ionia High School in 1936.
On June 23, 1941, at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage in New Hampton, she married Edward O. Bartz, Sr. To this union three children were born. Lillian and her husband farmed side-by-side southwest of New Hampton for over 30 years. She loved being outdoors, caring for the farm animals, milking the cows, and had a special love for her dogs. Lillian's priorities were her family and their farm. The couple retired in 1986 and moved to Rochester, MN, where she also worked several years for the United Way. Lillian lived her last five months at Sunrise Cottages Assisted Living.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Bartz of Rochester, MN; one son, Eddie W. (Rose) Bartz of Lansing, IA; two daughters, Dawn Bartz of Rochester, MN, Robyn Woolley of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, Shawn (Brenda) Bartz, Aaron Bartz, Noelle (Matt) Reams, Jacalyn (Randy) Lenz and Lynette Laures; eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Oscar Debban Jr., Melvin Debban; four sisters, Josephine Cassel, Viola Schroeder, Eunice Lloyd and Violet Debban in infancy.
I thought fnidnig this would be so arduous but it’s a breeze!
I was so sorry to hear about Lillian. Seems like she lived a full life. And I am sure your family has many wonderful memories of her. At times like this the Bible comforts me so much. Jesus said in John 5:28&29 there would come a time when those in the memorial tombs would hear his voice and come out. This would also be at a time when Revelation 21:3&4 says there will be no more tears, pain or death. This would all happen when God’s Kingdom comes, the same kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for in the Lord’s Prayer. What a wonderful prospect for Lillian and all those in the memorial tombs now. We express our deepest sympathy. We hope you find comfort in this time of loss.
Lynette– My deepest sympathy to your family during this sad time.
