Jason was born on April 23, 1976, to Jack Bright and Linda Hartson, in a close-knit family.
Growing up in Maynard, Jason attended school in the West Central Class of 1994. During his school years, he found joy in making lasting friendships and excelled on the football team, showcasing his team spirit and camaraderie.
Jason's journey took a significant turn when he met the love of his life, Tammy West, at an Abate Rodeo in Westgate. Their connection was instant, and their love blossomed quickly. On June 29, 2002, they exchanged vows at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Jason and Tammy had two sons, and together they built a life full of love and shared dreams.
Professionally, Jason was a dedicated laser operator at John Deere in Waterloo, earning the respect and trust of his colleagues. His commitment to fairness and justice led him to become a Union Steward, a role he embraced with passion and integrity. His peers elected him to this position, knowing that Jason would always stand up for what he believed was right.
As fate would have it, Jason was transferred to John Deere Dubuque Works, prompting a move to Asbury with Tammy. Despite the changes, Jason continued to thrive both personally and professionally, always approaching life with determination and resilience.
In his free time, Jason found solace in nature. He loved to cook and grill, creating memorable moments around the fire with family and friends. His granddaughters held a special place in his heart, each affectionately nicknamed Pumpkin, Peanut, Boo, and Squirt. Jason's love was unwavering, and his commitment to his family and friends was evident in every gesture, every smile, and every shared moment.
Jason is survived by his wife, Tammy of Asbury, IA; two sons, Brett (Desiree) Bright of Plainfield, IA, Bryce Bright of Nashua, IA; four granddaughters, Alana Bright, Aurora Bright, Kira Bright, Avealynn Bright; his father, Jack Bright of Waterloo, IA; mother, Linda (Trapper) Monroe of Westgate; two brothers, Mike Tanner of Westgate, IA, Jordan (Katie) Bright of Independence, IA; two sisters, Julie (Skyler) Steinbronn of Westgate, IA, Lori Tanner of Reinbeck, IA; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandparents.

Jason was one of my many many cousins. Unfortunately too many years passed and lives got busier and family connections faded. I am thankful that we spoke now and then on facebook. May you rest in the arms of Jesus cousin Jason. Marcia Bright Rinderknecht
I will NEVER forget Jason!! He was such a lil turd when he was little…one time at the park he was cruising on his tricycle and just because he could, he got it on top of the picnic tables under the shelter and road as fast as her could straight off the end… we all laughed so hard… he thought it was fun and would keep doing it….memories….always cherish them…
