Harold Foster

Harold H. Foster age 99 of Fredericksburg died Saturday night, October 9, 2010, at the New Hampton Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, Fredericksburg. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Dr. Harold Nordaas, Dallas Foster, Garold Fisher, Loren Mattke, Donald Pett, and Amos Brandenburg serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church. Harold H. Foster was born February 27, 1911, in Iowa Falls, IA, the son of Albert and Eva (Smith) Foster. He received his education in rural country schools in Hardin County and the Iowa Falls High School. On February 14, 1944, in Jesup, IA, he married Winifred E. Masters. To this union three children were born. The couple farmed southeast of Fredericksburg for many years and in 1965, Harold began Foster Excavating which he owned and operated until 1983. Harold especially loved the time he was able to spend with all his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 66 years; Winifred; two daughters, Connie (Don) Albrecht of Clarksville, Colleen (Doug) Anderson of Fredericksburg; one son, James (Pam) Foster of New Hampton; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; Ruby Foster of Greene; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Larry Peters; three brothers, Kenneth Foster, Laurence Foster and Lowell Foster; two sisters, Bernice Fisher and Lucille Dunning.
