Betty Ann Roberts, age 53 of Ottumwa, IA died Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center due to complications of COVID-induced pneumonia. Funeral arrangements are pending at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, IA. Cards may be sent to her family at 205 W Rochester Ottumwa, IA 52501 and to her mother, Lois Baumler 705 S. Pine St. West Union, IA 52175. Betty was born January 21st, 1968 to Lois and Gerald Baumler, the sixth of nine children. She grew up on the family’s dairy and crop farm and went to Turkey Valley Community School. After graduation, she went to Hamilton Business College and earned a degree in Bookkeeping and NIACC and earned a degree in Accounting. While studying there she met her future husband, Scott Roberts. The couple were married on July 18th 1992 at Holy Family in Mason City, IA. To this union they welcomed three children into the family, Mikala, Lisa and Jacob. The family lived in Manly, IA then Fort Atkinson, IA until later moving to Ottumwa following a job at John Deere for Scott. Betty enjoyed her work as a bookkeeper for the local church and made many friends while working there. She had recently taken a new job at Tractor Supply and enjoyed her time there as well. Betty was very proud of her kids and loved to be involved in their lives and their hobbies. Some of their favorite memories are the summers they spent together raising a large garden with the neighbors and going hunting in the fall. She is preceded in death by her father, Gerald Baumler. Betty is survived by her husband Scott, her children, Mikala, Lisa and Jacob all of Ottumwa, IA; Her mother Lois Baumler of West Union, IA; her siblings Kathy (Pat) Osmonson of Rochester, MN; Steve (Karla) Baumler of Waucoma, IA; Susan (Mike) Doyle of Cedar Falls, IA; Margaret (Paul) Havel of Calmar, IA; Bernice (Dale) Nieman of New Hartford, IA; Alice (Gus) Henrici of Grimes, IA; Laurie (Ron) Selken of Council Bluffs, IA; and Kim (Mark) Moeller of Valley, NE.
