Wilma May Zubrod, age 92 of Ionia IA. and Punta Gorda, Fl. passed away peacefully in Punta Gorda, Fl. December 26, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, JANUARY 10, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Washington where she was a member, with Rev. Mark Osterhaus celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton with Dean

Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. There will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a 6 p.m. scripture service. Wilma was born on May 13, 1921, the daughter of Clarence and Linnie (Usher) Blanchard at home in Bradford Township, Nashua, Chickasaw County, Iowa. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1938 then continued her education at the Iowa State Teacher’s College (now known as the University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls, Iowa where she received her teacher’s certificate.
Wilma taught in rural one room schools until her marriage in 1945. She married Lloyd H. Zubrod on January 6, 1945. The couple farmed successfully until retirement. Wilma enjoyed discussing current events, playing cards with her grandchildren and a good game of Euchre. Lloyd and Wilma loved traveling with their motor home.
She was founder and member of the Deer Chicks Club in Chickasaw County. Wilma and Lloyd wintered in Punta Gorda, Fl. for many years. Wilma enjoyed living near her daughter, Nancy and son-in-law, Ron, in Punta Gorda after Lloyd’s passing. She loved her faith, her family and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s cards, visits and phone calls.
Wilma is survived by her loving children; son’s Robert L. (Jannette) Zubrod of Ionia, Roy F. (Rebecca) Zubrod of Iowa City. Daughter’s Beverly C. (Roger) Schwickerath of New Hampton, Nancy L. (Ronald) Panoch of Punta Gorda, Fl., thirteen grandchildren; Allen (Debbie) Zubrod, Cheryl Colasch, Dawn (Jon) Wilber, Sanya (Jeff) Maerschalk, Wanita (Gary) Kilcollins, Virginia(Joseph) Pascual, Jake Zubrod, Dean (Jill) Schwickerath, Nick (Jody) Schwickerath, Jennifer (James) Anderson, Susie (William) Sudah, Karen Panoch, Gary (Christine) Panoch and twenty-two great-grandchildren, a sister, Marjorie Nixt, Charles City and brother, Leland Blanchard, Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, grandson, Bruce Zubrod, sister, Clara Velma, Hartman, Murry, brother, Raymond Otis, ininfancy.

Your Mom, Grandmother, & Great-Grandmother, will be miss by all. She was a sweet lady. I will even miss her. When Nancy would bring her back to Iowa, I would always, get to see her. I enjoyed her so much! Will miss her smiles. My heart and prayers are with all of you! Donna Willadsen
