William H. Tietz age 83 of Nashua, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. John United Church of Christ- Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua with Pastor Jessica Margrave Schirm presiding.
Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Ben Tietz, Jay Jaspers, Danny Kehret, Luke Kehret, serving as pallbearers. Matt Jaspers and Eric Crawford are the honorary pallbearers.
Friends may greet the family 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the church prior to the service.
William “Bill” Harris Tietz was born October 7, 1929, in Manly, Iowa, the son of Christoph and Mabel (Roberts) Tietz. Bill attended school in Manly and graduated from Manly High School in 1948. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a Sergeant in the Korean War. After returning from the service, Bill moved southwest of Nashua and began farming.
Some years later he took a job as a bus mechanic for the Nashua School District. During this time he married Mary Kay Zuber and to this union one child, Christopher was born. She passed away in 1957. A few years later he married Elanore Kehret and to this union two children George and Jerry were born. Elanore passed away in 1976. Bill took a position working at Hydrotile and eventually had to retire due to illness, but was able to keep farming his farm. He married Lydia Heiligmann. She passed away in 2011. Bill enjoyed Farming, gardening, and tending to flowers.
Survivors include, three sons; Christopher Tietz of Charles City, IA, George Tietz of Avoca, IA, Jerry(Carrie) Tietz of Nashua, IA; two brothers, Leroy(Virginia) Tietz of Charles City, IA, Thomas (Margaret) Tietz of Murrieta,CA; five sisters, Betty (Donald) Taylor of Mason City, IA, Anna Mae (Bill) Henry of Hampstead, NC, Lois Julseth of Kensett, IA, Mary Margaret (Peggy) Vosberg of Carlsbad, CA, Erma Smith of Sanjacinto, CA, two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, one brother-in-law, Dave Julseth.
