William "Bill" Martin age 61 of Fredericksburg, IA, died Monday, September 25, 2023, at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 30, 2023 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Fredericksburg with Pastor Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday September, 29, 2023 at the Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory in Fredericksburg. Further visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.(563) 237-6212
Bill was born on March 17, 1962, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Richard &Sharon (Isenhower) Martin and leaves behind a legacy of kindness creativity, and spiritedness. Bill was a beloved father, brother, and friend, whose strength and character were evident in every role he played. His spirit lives on in his family, who remember him fondly for his unwavering love, support, and the joy he brought into their lives.
A graduate of the Fredericksburg High School Class of 1980, Bill was a man of many talents and interests. His passion for bodywork started at a young age in his Grandma Griesert's driveway, where he would spend countless hours restoring her old Ford pickup. This passion carried into his adulthood and he became known as a good bodyman, mechanic, and truck driver. Bill was a jack of all trades, always ready to lend a helping hand, and his work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew him.
Bill had a great love for music and could often be found in his garage, tinkering away while listening to the 70's countdown American Top 40. His creative spirit was infectious, and his garage became a haven for those who shared his passion for restoration and music. His love for the 70's era music was not just a hobby, but a reflection of his free-spirited nature and his ability to find joy in the seemingly ordinary moments of life.
Described by those who knew him as kind, creative, and spirited, Bill was a man who lived life to the fullest. His kindness was a beacon for those around him, and his creativity was an inspiration to all. He had a spirit that was indomitable, a spirit that encouraged those around him to live life with passion and joy.
Bill's life was a testament to the power of perseverance, creativity, and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family and friends will remember him for his kindness, his creativity, and his spirited nature. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Andria (Amos) Flack of Waukon; son, Andrew (Jennifer) Martin of Cresco; siblings, Dennis Martin of Fredericksburg, Connie (Keith) Benter of Fredericksburg and John (Katy) Isenhower of Fredericksburg; Grandchildren Austen, Molly, Owen, Joanna, and Emily.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Sharon; Sister, Cori; Grandmother, Dorothy Griesert; and Emma Martin.

William "Bill" Martin age 65 of Greene, IA, died Tuesday, December 31, 2019, in Mason City.
Friends may greet the family from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2020, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory - Olson Chapel in Nashua. A private burial will take place at Riverton Cemetery, rural Charles City.
William “Bill” LeRoy Martin was born August 28, 1954, in Charles City, IA, the son of William L. and Opal (Johnson) Martin. He received his education in Nashua and, at age 17, enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Bill served his country for over 20 years and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. While serving in the military, he met Barbara MacDonald in Indiana, and the couple was married on December 11, 1976. To this union, their son, Bill, was born.
The couple made Greene, Iowa their home. In their free time, Bill and Barbara loved riding each of their motorcycles together. They also enjoyed fishing, and Bill regrettably was a Denver Bronco fan. Bill began driving truck when they moved to Greene which, he did until the day of his passing.
Survivors include one son, Bill (Tricia) Martin of Austin, TX; step-mother, Norine Martin of West Terre Haute, IN; five sisters, Peggy (Allen) Wefel of Charles City, Linda (Ed Shaw) Martin of Waterloo, Karen (Bobby) Aukes of Dumont, Sheryl (Jack) Bilotta of Vaiden, MS and Joleen (John) Klotz of West Terre Haute, IN; two brothers, Michael Martin of Nashua and Paul (Ann) Munson of White Pigeon, MI; many nieces and nephews; special friends, June Yerkes of Greene and Jay & Tess Jurgensen of Rektor, AR.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara in 2016; siblings, Kathleen Martin, Mary Kay Martin, and Patrick Martin.
