Virginia N. Jones age 95 of Nashua, Iowa died Monday, November 24, 2014, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Funeral services will be held 10:30a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua with Pastor Bill Nielsen officiating.
Interment will at Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City with Brian Jones, Mark Jones, Jeff Jones, Tim Jones, Bob Hatzky, Rick Bradshaw, Dan Bradshaw, Chad Jones, Cole Jones and Eric Jones serving as pallbearers.
Friends may greet the family 3:00 - 6:00p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Virginia “Ginny” Nell Jones was born November 6, 1919, in rural Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Emma (Gashel) Rodrian. She received her education at Rock Falls schools. During her time in school, she was introduced to Forrest Jones and the couple were married October 12, 1935, at the First Methodist Church in Osage, IA. To this union; six children were born.
Virginia and Forrest farmed around the Plymouth area for several years after they were married. They moved for a brief time to Charles City, before the family moved to California where Virginia worked in the shipping yards in Marin County. After a few years in California, the family moved back to Charles City and purchased a farm near Bassett. After a number of years, Virginia and the family moved to Nashua. In Nashua, Virginia worked at the local taverns including Don’s, Scribner’s and The Townhouse.
Virginia enjoyed playing cards, flowers, camping and fishing. She loved to socialize with her family and friends, and always looked forward to having the holidays at her house. She was a member of the VFW for many years. Virginia had a passion for sports, especially baseball. She was always up for a trip to the casino.
Virginia is survived by three sons, Jerry (Alma) Jones of Nashua, IA, Arnold (Debra) Jones of Branson, MO, and Rodney (Robyn) Jones of New Hampton, MO; two daughters, Judy Hatzky of Nashua, IA, and Connie Bradshaw of Lone Tree, IA; nineteen grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Marge Swift of Pine River, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Forrest; son, Raymond Jones; grandson, Michael Bradshaw; two son-in-laws, Dale Bradshaw, Max Hatzky; very dear friend, Vern Wilken.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jones family, Jenny was such a sweet lady!!
