Tony James Groth was born March 26, 1979, in Guttenberg, IA, the son of Ronald “Butch” and Mary (Wolter) Groth. Tony began his education in New Hampton, until 6th grade when his family moved to Epworth, Iowa. He attended school there and was a 1998 graduate from Western Dubuque High School. Shortly after graduation he moved back New Hampton.
He started off with a variety of jobs including Clear Creek Pheasant Farm, Sara Lee, Sparboe for over ten years and most recently Reicks View Farms. Tony was a true outdoorsman. No matter what activity it was, if it was outdoors and his family and friends were present, Tony loved it. Fishing, hunting, and primitive camping were a few of the activities he was most fond of. Tony was a true father figure. He is remembered as a hands-on dad who loved to spend time with his son, Aiden. Aiden was the pride and joy of his life. Tony’s friends and family meant everything to him.
Survivors include his wife, Cydney of New Hampton; one son, Aiden Groth of New Hampton; his mother, Mary Groth of Epworth, IA; step-father, Jerry Wall of Oelwein; father-in-law, Frank Holschlag of New Hampton; two brothers, Tracey Groth of Garber, IA; Todd (Susan) Groth of Italy; one sister, Tara (Chad) Teasdale of Shellsburg, WI; five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to you. I know the pain of a broken heart. Our Heavenly Father feels our pain. Psalms 34:18 assures us that He is near to those broken at heart. He does, however, hold out a promise that in the very near future He will wipe out all tears of sorrow and pain from our eyes and death will be no more. (Revelation 21:3-5) He also promises to remember all those in the memorial tombs (graves) and restore them to life. (John 5:28,29) Until those words are fulfilled, may you find much peace and comfort in God and in His promises found in the Holy Scriptures.
Condolences to everyone. I never met Tony in adulthood, but remember childhood conversations about ‘Yucky’ (Lucky) the goldfish, a finfriend of Grandma Liz, and of mini-arguments of who was a ‘macaroni’, Tony or Rhonda. You can guess who argued which. Rhonda (cousin)

Our Thoughts and prayers are with Cyd and Aiden, Mary and the ‘Groth family’, It’s sad to hear family is gone so soon. He was very little when I met him, and that’s also sad that I hadn’t got to know him. I recently read this poem, that I really like. Those we Love remain with us, for Love itself lives on. Cherished memories never fade, because one loved is gone. Those we Love can never be, more that a thought apart, for as long as there’s a memory, they live on in our HEART. <3 With Love, Colleen (Groth) and Rodney Johnson Manchester
