Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I’m so happy that I got to know Tom, and that he was a very big part of my life from 1992-2005 (the years he was married to my mom-Dianne Burgart Dann). The first night we met was at a 40th anniversary dance-their first date and the very night that I went into labor with my first child. Yes, Tom came to the hospital with my mom and came right back into the labor suite to meet my first daughter, Kayla Marie. She was always very special to him, and was even the little flower girl for their wedding. I am so happy she was able to spend an afternoon with him in Des Moines the day before he died. It meant so much to both of them! Kayla and I spent many hours on the boat and in Prairie with Tom and my mom-some of our best memories! He was an amazing man, and loved by all! We will all miss him greatly! Scott and Stacy-you guys are lucky to have had such a great father! My heart and prayers go out to you!

  2. Tom and I worked together at John Deere in Waterloo,Iowa. Tom and I always talked about flying. Between Tom, and Vern Steva, Those two could really tell some tails about their antics in Airplanes. I remember one that Tom told about Vern dropping beer cans (empty of course) out of the plane, at a trucker friend of theirs, who was driving the truck. Tom said that Vern was thinking about landing the plane on the flat-bed their friend was pulling behind the tractor. I guess Tom convinced Vern the trailer was too short to land on. I lost track of Tom when he moved to Florida soon after he retired. I still remember his big house on the east side of Waverly. I Thought of him often, and wondered what he was up to. I am sorry that he has passed on, But now he and Vern are probably talking about flying again. My heartfelt condolences to Tom’s family,,. Bob Pence, Altoona, Iowa.

  12. Tom was my brother -in- law,he was married to my sister Evenelle and my other sister is Linda she was married to Ronnie and Curtis and me .The six of us had more fun times together ..Fun ,fun , fun ! One of the times I remember …It was Linda and Ronnies wedding ..We six decided to go to Nashua to the Hideaway . It was a bar with a dance floor .The that little bar had so many people in there that night that to talk to any one you almost had to yell . Well a short while into the night Tom came and wanted me to dance with him .Well he was already dancing when he asked me to dance so he was still dancing when we got on to the floor.. He never stopped. He was pulling me around and I could hardly keep up.We were fast dancing to 50’s music. and Toms little feet were just a blurrrr. All of a sudden I stepped on his foot …I had high heels on ..and I was trying to tell him what was wrong but he never stopped dancing.. he kept saying to me to loosen up and he was shaking my arms out . He says what’s the matter with you ? Loosen up lets dance! Well I tried several times to stop…Finally I was half way to the floor laughing so hard I couldn’t stop and he thought I needed help getting and I’m saying no no… my shoe is in your shoe .and he says what’s it in there for? ( Isn’t that a man for you : ) The heel was about 3 inches high and was in his shoe on the outside of his foot down in and he could not feel it. Just had to share that . Love you kids. : )

  13. I only had the pleasure of knowing Tom a few days but his happy character has left a mark on me, I feel he was a genuine man with a big smile and bigger personality. So sorry for your loss.
