Shirley O. (Duenow) Markham, age 95, of Osage, died Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Shirley was born May 30, 1917, at home near St. Ansgar, the daughter of Carl A. and Edna (Koster) Duenow. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Glenn Markham on March 31, 1937. They farmed in Burr Oak Township until 1965, when they moved to Osage. They owned and operated Plaza Caf for 17 years until retirement. Shirley was a member of Sacred Heart Guild and Bible group and was a long time member of MI Club. She enjoyed flower gardening and baking. Shirley is survived by three daughters, Janice (John) Dempsey of Osage, Joan Blake of St. Ansgar, Pat (Roger) Karau of Elko, MN; four sons, Ron (Kris) Markham of New Hampton, Rick (Marge) Markham of Osage, Bob (Kate) Markham of Lakeside, CA, Keith (Jessi) Markham of Gig Harbor, WA; 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Kenneth Duenow of St. Ansgar, Merlyn Duenow of Montgomery, MN, John (Sally) Duenow of Liberty Lake, WA, and a sister, Margaret (Larry) Runtch of Rochester, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn a son, Bill, a daughter, Barbara, a granddaughter, Carol Shannon, brothers, Wayne and Carl and a sister, Eleanor. Cemetery: Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. Ron and Kris along with their family would like to thank Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home for their assistance with the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Msgr. John Hemann, celebrating.

  13. Grandma I will always remember the cribbage games and the big northern pike you caught up in MN. We love you and will miss you but you are with the ones we lost before. And when I celebrate my birthday I will be celebrating your new voyage .

  14. I will always think of you when I watch Brady Bunch and Julia Childs re-runs. I always enjoyed watching those with you and asking if you would make Jared and I the food Julia would make and you would say “oh yeah right”. Say hello to all those who have gone before.
