Ryan Daniel McLaughlin
January 23, 1981 ~ June 6, 2026
Ryan Daniel McLaughlin age 45 of Fredericksburg, IA died Saturday, June 6, 2026 at his home.
Friends may greet the family from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Fredericksburg where there will be a 6:00 p.m. Wake Service followed by a Celebration of Life at the Fredericksburg Community Center.
Ryan was born on January 23, 1981, in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Michael McLaughlin and Sheryl (Steven) McLaughlin.
Ryan spent most of his life in Fredericksburg and was known for his love of the outdoors, his sense of humor, and the time he cherished with family and friends. He earned his associate’s degree from NICC and studied arboriculture, a field that reflected his passion for nature and the outdoors. Over the years, Ryan worked for several manufacturing businesses and was employed at Slick’s Pallets for many years. More recently, he worked at Precision.
Ryan loved fishing, trapping, and spending time with his children and grandchild. He enjoyed staying in touch with his many friends and family members, watching comedies, and listening to 90s rap and rock music. He was fascinated by Viking culture and enjoyed learning more about it. Ryan especially loved relaxing outdoors with his dog, Oakley, often grilling out with a Busch Light in hand.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Molly McLaughlin (David Walker) and Owen McLaughlin, Brayden Grosz, Ryland Grosz; grandson David Kevin Walker IV; his father, Michael McLaughlin; mother, Sheryl McLaughlin; sisters, Ashley (Ben) Grosz of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Caitlyn (James) Sampica of Zwingle, Iowa, Courtney McLaughlin of Fredericksburg, and Charity McLaughlin; along with several nieces and nephews including William Grosz, Jamie Sampica, Gwendolyn Sampica, and Evelynn Grosz.
Ryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Daniel McLaughlin and Betty Schumacher; his maternal grandparents, James and Ethel Steven; his uncles, Daniel McLaughlin, John McLaughlin, and Jerry Steven; and his aunt, Pat Boehmer.
