Ruth Barbara Fisher age 88 of Nashua, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua, with Chaplin Janet Dorenkamp presiding. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua with Shawn Litterer, Jeffrey Rottink, Eric Litterer, Brad Fisher, Patrick Lumley, and Charles Knecht serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Dann, Jeffrey Newton, and Dennis Enck.
Friends may greet the family 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Ruth Barbara Fisher was born June 17, 1924, in rural Butler County, the daughter of Theophil and Elsie (Witt) Litterer. She received her education at rural country schools. Shortly after she met Lyle Fisher. They were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on February 21, 1944. The couple was married for 65 years. To this union three children were born. Ruth worked at the Ben Franklin store in Nashua from 1978 until the time of its closing. Ruth retired and cherished spending time with her family.
She loved playing cards, Yahtzee, and embroidery. Ruth was always on the go, going out to eat, going shopping, and going visiting.
Ruth will be buried with her beloved Joe.
Survivors include, one daughter, Barb (George) Agnitsch of Nashua; six grandchildren, Andrea (Stan) Lines, Anthony (Linda Kramer) Fisher, Adam Fisher, Dawn (Ron) Garbes, Michelle (Tom) Johnson, and Jason (Carey) Agnitsch; two step-grandchildren, Chad Klein and Heather Klein; 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; six brothers, Arnold (Yvonne) Litterer of Marble Rock, IA, Robert (Sherry) Litterer of Clarksville, IA, Paul (Mary) Litterer of Bremer, IA, Wilbur (Marjorie) Litterer of Waverly, IA, Richard (Ida) Litterer of Clarksville, IA, Roger (Peggy) Litterer of Clarksville, IA; two sisters, Margaret (Carl) Horengic of Upper Marlboro, MD, Shirley (Dave) Rottink of Clarksville, IA.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Benjamin and Donald Fisher; two brothers, Ralph and Lawrence Litterer; one sister, Hulda Fisher.
I have fond memories of visiting Aunt Ruth on our Iowa vacations. She loved talking about her family, and catch us up with their activities. We will keep her and the family in our prayers.
