Ruth Arline Demro was born November 30, 1927, in Kenowsha, WI, the third of eleven children born to Charles and Florence (Ersing) Patten. She received her education in Charles City graduating from the Charles City High School in 1945. She worked at Salsbury Labs in Charles City in her youth. On January 8, 1949, at the Congregational Church in Charles City, she married Ronald P. Demro. To this union four children were born. Ruth stayed at home raising her family and also worked at two Nashua gift shops, the Serendipity Shop and the Calico Cat. She also did babysitting for several area families. Memberships include the R.E.S.T. Club, the Nashua Womens Club, St. John Lutheran Church and Circle where she was also a Sunday School Teacher for over 25 years. Ruth enjoyed the outdoors, working in the garden and ‘puttering’ in the dirt. She embroidered, sewed, cooked and loved to watch Nascar and bird-watching, especially looking out for cardinals. She mostly loved the quality time she was able to spend with her family and fondly recalled the years she watched her husband Ronnie play ball around the area.
Survivors include two sons, Terry (Cindy) Demro and Dennis (Zelda) Demro all of Nashua; two daughters, Vicki (Bill) Jones of Nashua and Rhonda (Curtis) Murff of Mokena, IL; eight grandchildren, Renae Johnson, Randy Demro, Ryan Demro, Holly Macpherson, Kristy Demro, Tracy Demro, Alexandria Murff and Rachel Murff; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Jean (Carlton) Veigel of Boise, ID, Betty Patten of St. Paul, Mary Fisher of Nashua, Janice Monson of Charles City and Kathy (Chuck) Kraut of North Richland Hills, TX; two brothers, Kenneth (Joyce) Patten of St. Paul and Wendell (Donna) Patten of Charles City.

Our sincerest sympathy on the loss of your Mother, Grandmother, Sister & friend. What a gracious lady who carried so many titles. It is not easy to lose a Mother no matter how old or how ill they might be. She always made a point to visit with us where ever we might meet. Since she was from Charles City & I was, too, we often talked about goings on up there. I had worked with her sister-in-law, Donna for years at 11th St. Chautauqua. & many years ago, her younger sister Joanne who was an RN also at Chautauqua. Ruth was so very proud of her family & rightly so. She will be missed but may all the wonderful memories you have of the past of happier times be forever in your hearts. Please know we are keeping all of you in our thoughts & prayers during this difficult time. Sending blessings & love…Dick & Sue Baldwin
