Ruth Amelia (Boyer) Knoll was born on March 15, 1927 to Vern and Anna (Miller) Boyer on the family farm near Brainard, IA. Ruth graduated from Elgin High School in Elgin, IA. She worked at the Elgin Canning factory until her marriage to Ralph Knoll on June 15, 1947 at the First Baptist Church in Brainard, IA. The couple farmed near New Hampton all of their life. Ruth enjoyed gardening, her flowers, crafts, and she especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grand children. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in New Hampton and of the American Baptist Women. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Ruth is survived by her husband Ralph Knoll of New Hampton; one daughter Jane (Doug) Hilton of Martelle, IA; four sons Arnold (Ann) Knoll, Dean (Judy) Knoll, Kurt (Joan) Knoll, Paul (Christine) Knoll all of New Hampton; 11 grandchildren Sarah (Chad) Buchhotz, Ben (Cindy) Knoll, Rachel Fisher, David (Susan) Knoll, Beth (Seth) Vopat, Melissa (Kevin) Speer, Tim Knoll, Angela Hilton, Jonathan (Nicole) Hilton, Jessica Knoll, and Shawn Knoll; six great grandchildren; sister Alice Boyer of Oelwein, IA; brother-in-law Don Reeder of Elgin, IA; sister-in-law Marie Knoll of New Hampton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Vern and Anna Boyer; brother Leo Boyer; sisters Lola Boyer and Eva Reeder; brother-in-law Ward Knoll; sisters-in-law Geraldine Boyer and Ethel Boyer. Cemetery: Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton with Jessica Knoll, Shawn Knoll, Ben Knoll, David Knoll, Tim Knoll and Jonathan Hilton serving as casket bearers. Honorary bearers are Sarah Buchholz, Rachel Fisher, Beth Vopat, Melissa Knoll-Speer and Angela Hilton. Visitation: Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00PM on Monday, May 26, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: Funeral Services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at First Baptist Church in New Hampton with Pastor Rod Ankrom officiating. Charlotte Markle will be the organist and congregational hymns are The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace and The Sweet Hour of Prayer.
