Roy Louis Volker was born November 29, 1927, on the Volker Family Farm north of Sumner, IA, the son of Fred and Sophie (Zell) Volker. He received his education in rural country school. As a boy and a young man, Roy was active in the family farm operation working in the field as well as milking the cows. On January 19, 1948, at St. John Lutheran Church in Frederika, he married Maxine Bahlmann of Frederika. To this union one son was born. Following their marriage, Roy worked at the Frederika Feed Mill for nearly twenty years before he decided to farm for himself. Roy, Maxine and their newborn son, Bob, moved to a farm northeast of Frederika where they farmed for several years and then farmed near Tripoli until 1960. In 1960, Roy took a position at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo and the family moved into the town of Frederika. He retired in 1985 after working for Chamberlain for 25 years.
Throughout his life, Roy loved being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed camping and gardening. Roy always kept active and enjoyed working on lawnmowers and making many wood craft projects.

Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. This is one of the most difficult things we must face in our life. May it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss. God assures us at Psalms 34:18 that he is near to those broken in heart and those crushed in spirit he saves. Jesus also promises that we will be able to see our loved ones again. Jesus own words found at John 5:28,29 tells us there will be a resurrection. What a wonderful hope! God says that soon on the earth there will be no more pain, suffering and especially death at Revelation 21:3-5 We anxiously await the day when we will no longer lose those we love. May these bible thoughts bring you comfort at this most difficult time.
Maxine, Bob, Pat and family – know we are thinking of you at this time – treasure the memories ~~
