Rosemary Margaret Huffman, age 85 of New Hampton, Iowa died Wednesday June 16, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday June, 21, 2010 at Holy Family Parish - St. Joseph Center with Rev. Phil Recker officiating. The pall will be placed by Rosemary’s children. Presenting the offertory gifts will be Christine Lamoureux, Annaruth Snyder, and Sherri Blazek. Lector for the service will be Joe Scally. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton with Paul & Angelica Huffman, Bradley Huffman, Shawn and Eileen Huffman, Jenny & Brian Voves, Adam & LeNae Schwickerath, Nathan & Jami Schwickerath, Monica Recker, Amanda & Brad Trask and Alexandra Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be Annaruth & Garry Snyder, Gary & Sue Bouska, Sherri & Mickey Blazek, Bill Brown, Shirley Pitz, Darwin Hovey, Freddie Eskildsen, Karen & Dennis Lamoureux and Cory & Carla Pester. Also Rosemary’s “Birthday Club” and “Pool League”. Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday June 20, 2010, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 6:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Rosemary Margaret Huffman was born June 21, 1924, in Lansing, Iowa the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Horne) Lucey. She attended grade school at Rossville, Iowa and graduated in 1942 from the Waukon High School. On June 26, 1946, at St. Joseph Cathedral in LaCrosse, WI Rosemary was united in marriage to Raymond Huffman. To this union six children were born. The couple lived on a farm near Rossville and moved to New Hampton in 1954. Rosemary worked for several area business’ including Ben Franklin, The Crystal Grill and retiring from J.C. Penny after 20 years. The couple, along with Ray & Lila Klenske owned the Fireman’s Theater for over 10 years. Raymond died December 4, 1994, at the age of 71. Rosemary was a member of Holy Family Parish and Rosary Society, pool and bowling leagues, and the Legion Auxiliary where she served as president. Survivors include four sons, Mark (Anne) Huffman of Atlanta, GA, Mike (Donna) Huffman of Waterloo, IA, Dan (Sue) Huffman and John Huffman all of New Hampton; one daughter, Pat (Dennis) Ruffridge of Cresco, IA; one son-in-law, Dick Recker of New Hampton; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom (Nancy) Lucey of Milwaukee; one sister, Jo Ann Heminghous of Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her parent; her husband, Raymond; one daughter, Peg Recker on February 14, 1999; one son-in-law, Dan Schwickerath; three brothers, Francis, Bill, and Jack Lucey.

  10. Dear Dan and family: I have many fond memories of your mother. She came up to me at Dad’s funeral and asked if I remembered her. Of course! I made many many treks past the Huffman house as a kid. She was such a fun woman. I’m so sorry for your loss.

  14. Dear Huffman Family, I was so sad to hear about the passing of our friend, Rosemary. Her help, friendship and support for our Mom after Dad passed was such a comfort to me. Listening to them tell the stories about the wild times they had as couples when they were our age made me laugh til I cried!! We are lucky to have had such fun loving parents who were true friends for their lifetimes. I am so sorry for your loss and I will hold Rosemary dear to my heart. Remember the fun times.

  24. I just heard about Rosemary passing! How sad I feel for all of you and myself too! Rosemary will always be special to me and she will always be condsidered ‘MA’ to me. She had the heart to step in after my own mom passed to chew on me or to give me advice whichever was necessary but for she always had done than. I will miss her greatly.
