Rose Mary Edson age 83 of Nashua, IA, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Linn Haven Rehabilitation and Healthcare in New Hampton. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Republic Community Church, rural Nashua with Rev. John Tunnicliff and Bill Griffee presiding. Interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua with Bryan Becker, Bryce Becker, Brady Becker, Andrew Edson, Jonathan Gerzema, and Brent Gerzema serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Theresa Sult, Suzanne Case, Jennifer Gerzema, Kristin Soland, and Britta Becker. Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Rose Mary Edson was born July 20, 1932, in rural Chickasaw County, IA, the daughter of Harvey and Agnes (Jermier) Wilson. She attended country schools in rural Chickasaw County, and was a 1950 graduate of Nashua High School. Rose Mary was united in marriage to Lynn Edson on September 16, 1951, at the Nashua United Methodist Church. To this union, three children; Mary Lynn, Lynda, and David were born. Rose Mary and Lynn moved to the family farm where they spent the next 62 years of their lives raising their family, working side by side, and enjoying the fruits of their labor. For many years, they clerked local auctions under the name of E & M Clerking. Rose Mary was a pillar at the Republic Community Church, where she taught Sunday School, decorated for church events, participated in women’s group and choir, and used her beautiful penmanship to take care of the memorial book. Rose Mary enjoyed cooking, canning, baking pies and bread, decorating, and crafts. She was fond of traveling, and in their later years, she and Lynn spent winters in Texas and summers on the lake in Minnesota. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rose Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lynn; three children, Mary Lynn (Dean) Gerzema of Buffalo Center, Lynda (Robert Jr.) Becker of Swaledale, David (Connie) Edson of Ionia; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Dorothy Chambers of Charles City. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harvey Eugene Jr. Wilson; two sisters, Marie Chambers and Georgie Hicok; three brother-in-laws, Forrest Chambers, Raymond Chambers, and Gerald Hicok.

  8. Our memories of Rose Mary are ones of a very kind lady. I remember how much she enjoyed having us over to their home when we were in Highschool. Lynn and she raised three great children, with Mary Lynn being one of my best friends. Her quiet demeanor and warm smile will be missed.
