Rev. Roger LeRoy Keigan, known to friends and family as Roger, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in Waterloo, IA, at the age of 85. Born on April 8, 1940, in Webster City, IA, the son of Cecil and Luella (Gordon) Keigan. Roger’s life was marked by service, faith, and a profound love for his community.

Roger’s early years in Webster City laid the foundation for a life of dedication and hard work. After graduating from Webster City High School in 1958, he demonstrated his commitment to his country by enlisting in the United States Army. His time in the service was marked by honor and integrity, resulting in an honorable discharge. Following his military service, Roger’s heart led him to Cheryl Morlan. Their marriage brought forth two cherished children, Ryan and Robin. Although their paths later diverged, the bonds of family remained.

Professionally, Roger was known for his unwavering dedication and compassion. He spent his early years saving lives as a paramedic and lifeguard, always ready to extend a helping hand. Later, he joined John Deere, where his diligence and attention to detail earned him the respected position of an inspector. His commitment to his work was evident to all who knew him.

Roger’s life was a testament to his faith and love for people. He met and married Linda Appell on May 17, 2023. Their union was marked by mutual respect, joy, and shared moments, as they treasured the time they spent together. Roger’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he lived out his beliefs through acts of kindness and an ever-present smile.

A lover of the outdoors, Roger found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies but a way of connecting with the world around him. Each summer, he eagerly participated in Ragbrai, a bike ride across Iowa that he looked forward to with great anticipation. His adventurous spirit was matched by his intellectual pursuits; he achieved a degree in divinity through online classes, an accomplishment that filled him with immense pride.

Roger’s personality was a beacon of friendliness, and he was renowned for his ability to make lasting friendships. His presence was a comfort, his laughter infectious, and his advice sought after. He was a friend to all he met, embodying the very essence of being faith-filled and friendly.

Roger is survived by his wife, Linda Keigan of Waterloo, IA; one son, Ryan (Nicole Conrad) Keigan of La Porte City, IA; one daughter, Robin (Michael) Sprague of Waverly, IA; five grandchildren, Brianna Keigan, Sarah Sprague, Bryant Keigan, Daniel(Cassie) Sprague, and Isabella “Izzy” Conrad; three great-grandchildren, Ann Amelia Keigan, Maxton Sprague, and Calista Sprague; one brother, Ron (Sharon) Keigan of Webster City, IA.
