Roger J. Holthaus age 45 of New Hampton died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in rural New Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Holy Family Parish, New Hampton with Rev. Mark Osterhaus celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton with Paul Rosonke, Dean Rosonke, John Kuehn, Tim Kuehn, Roger Dietrich, Adrian Martin, Zachary Holthaus and Spencer Gossling serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephews, Curt Schwickerath, Chris Gebel, Bob Rosonke, Brian Meissen, Brad Mitchell, Mike Meister and Kyle Recter. Friends may greet the family 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 7:00 p.m. scripture service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Roger Joseph Holthaus was born October 9, 1968, in New Hampton, the son of James and Arlene (Rosenbaum) Holthaus. He received his education in New Hampton and graduated from the New Hampton High School in 1987. He then attended Hawkeye Community College and graduated from the Automotive Technician Program. On April 8, 1989, at Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington, he married Patrice Schwickerath and to this union three sons were born. The couple later divorced. Roger worked as a mechanic for several years and then spent the rest of his working career in the construction business. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, horseback riding and farming. Survivors include his three sons, Joshua (Beth) Holthaus of Fredericksburg, Jayson (Ashley Anderson) Holthaus of Ionia, Jordan Holthaus of New Hampton; two grandchildren, Drey and Lexi; his parents, James and Arlene Holthaus of New Hampton; two brothers, Rick (Cindy) Holthaus of Alta Vista, Randy (Melissa) Holthaus of Plainfield; six sisters, Glenda Holthaus of Cedar Rapids, Gladys (Gary) Martin of Waucoma, Barbara Holthaus of Marshalltown, Susan (LeRoy) Gossling of New Hampton, Nancy (Bruce) Dunahoo of Zearing, IA, Amy (Dale) House of Sioux Falls, SD; his companion, Tillie; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herman and Pauline Holthaus; maternal grandparents, Hugo and Hildegard Rosenbaum; aunts, Clarice Glaser and Donna Mae Holthaus; uncle, Eugene Rosenbaum; Godparents, Linus and Rita Heying.

  9. I only knew Roger since he started working for SCI Concrete this past spring. I enjoyed speaking with him and he was always so kind and respectful. He was a hard worker and always gave his all. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
