Robert Ohm

Robert Ohm, age 80, of New Hampton, died on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.
Robert William Ohm was born on May 8, 1927 to Albert and Anna (Kathner) Ohm in Jacksonville Township, Chickasaw County, IA. Robert attended country school and Lawler Public School. He entered the US Navy in 1944 and received his honorable discharge in 1946. Robert farmed and later co-owned and managed Great Plains Gas and owned Bobs Floater Service. He also drove school bus for New Hampton and Turkey Valley School Districts. Robert was united in marriage to Janice Marie Webb in Waverly, IA. The couple lived in the Lawler area where they raised their family. They moved to New Hampton in 2004.
Robert was an active member of Trinity Lutheran church, former church council member, past president of New Hampton Jaycees, and past commander of American Legion Post #38.
Robert is survived by his wife Janice of New Hampton; children Yvonne (Randy) Durr of Omaha, Nebraska, Deb (William) Hansen of New Hampton, Thomas (Kristy) Ohm of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brett (Lavonne) Ohm of New Hampton, Gail (Rod) Hunt of Marion, IA, Terra (Brent) Johnson of Clarion, IA, Jody (Cory) Wenthe of Waukee, IA and Rhonda (Christopher) Owen Ohm of Austin, TX.; 12 grandchildren; sister-in-law Bernice Ohm of Lawler; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Harry, Clifford, Ervin, and Clarence.
Cemetery:
Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton with Rod Hunt, Brent Johnson, Cory Wenthe, Kenny Leuenberger, Randy Durr, and William Hansen serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bears are Lavonne Ohm and Christy Ohm.rn

Visitation:
Visitation will be 3:00-8:00pm on Friday, March 28, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service:
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey and Pastor Joel Dahlen officiating. rn
