Robert Reissner

Robert "Bob" L. Reissner age 98 of Lawler, IA died Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Homes in Charles City. Robert Louis (Bob) Reissner passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023. He was born June 19, 1925 in Chickasaw county, Iowa to Lenora (Boetcher) Reissner and Louis Reissner. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Catharina (Katie) Smits Reissner and his sister Elsie and brother Cyril. Bob enjoyed farming (especially raising hogs) which he skillfully performed his entire life. He had other interests such as establishing two publishing companies. It was through his publishing companies that he shared his self-taught theories on economics. Bob published books and papers on economics with the objective of promoting a technical understanding of the subject for others to improve their perspective on the topic. His goal was to establish an economic basis from which economies and economists could plan and act for the benefit of all of the society’s people. After graduating from the Army’s signal school in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, Bob was deployed to Germany and stationed at the Army’s 596 Signal Company. Their mission was to provide communications for America’s Seventh Army. While there Bob met Katie in the Netherlands. She later immigrated to the United States and they were married. In the 1960s Bob served as a National Staff Organized for the National Farmers Organization while they struggled to establish Collective Bargaining for America’s agricultural industry. Bob is survived by his daughter Martha(Tina) Smits Reissner Clancy, her husband George F, (Jeff) Clancy Jr., his grandson George F (Jeff) Clancy III and his great grandson Robert Lewis Clancy. He is also survived by nephew Thomas Reissner, nieces Lynn Keller and Anne Murray and many grand nieces and nephews living in the United States and the Netherlands.
