Randy was born on August 16, 1978, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Kenneth and Judith (Heiselman) Babcock. Randy had a deep appreciation for the simple things that brought comfort and happiness.
He grew up surrounded by family connections that shaped the person he became, and he remained close to the people who knew him best. He attended New Hampton Community Schools through the eighth grade, and while his formal education ended there, the lessons he carried forward were reflected in the way he lived his life. He had a gentle nature that made others feel at ease, and he was known for the calm and steady presence he brought to those around him.
Those who knew Randy will remember that he found joy in the things that spoke to his heart. He loved collecting anything having to do with ducks, and his appreciation for that collection reflected the care and enthusiasm he brought to the interests he cherished. He also loved hunting and fishing, pastimes that gave him time to enjoy the outdoors and the peace of being outside. He especially enjoyed sitting and watching the deer and other animals in the backyard, where he could take in the quiet beauty of nature and find contentment in the moment.
Randy treasured time spent with his nieces and nephews, and those moments were among the happiest in his life. He had a special way of making time feel meaningful, whether he was sharing a conversation, enjoying an outing, or simply being present. His family knew that his love was steady and sincere, and that he took great pleasure in being part of their lives. He was the kind of uncle who made memories that would be carried forward with affection and gratitude.
He also enjoyed the everyday adventures that became part of his routine, including shopping trips to Walmart and Fleet Farm. These outings were more than errands to Randy, because they were opportunities to spend time doing something familiar and enjoyable. He appreciated the places and routines that brought comfort, and he found happiness in the ordinary moments that others might overlook. His life was a reminder that joy can be found in the simplest places when approached with a grateful heart.
Randy was especially devoted to his dog, Rusty, and his cat, Mouse, both of whom were his best friends. Their companionship brought him comfort and happiness, and they were a constant part of the life he loved. His bond with his animals reflected the tenderness that defined him, and it was clear to those around him that he held a deep affection for the pets who shared his days. They were a source of peace, loyalty, and companionship, and he cared for them with great devotion.
Randy is survived by his parents Kenneth Babcock and Judith (Harold) Kelleher; sisters Deb (Chris) Heying of New Hampton and Jenny (Greg) Kramer of Algona; nephews Zach (Hannah) Heying and Luke Vsetecka; and nieces: Kaitlyn (Katy) Vsetecka, Kelsey (McCoy) Bilharz, and Lindsey Vsetecka.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents on both sides; and cousins John Galligan and Jeffrey Dreckman.
