Ralph Peter Pitz was born February 24, 1921, in New Hampton, IA, the son of Paul and Mary (Weiman) Pitz. He received his education at St. Mary’s Catholic School in New Hampton. While attending a dance in Lawler, he met his future wife, Dorothy Wilson. The couple were married on June 6, 1946, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler. To this union three children were born. Ralph and Dorothy began farming in the Lawler and Boyd, IA, areas until the mid 1960’s when Ralph chose to begin his truck driving career. Ralph drove trucks for nearly forty-five years for numerous businesses. Ralph drove for Haberly and Galen’s Hatcheries, Bob Boos at the Swift buying station, the Lowe Brothers Trucking, Boeding Trucking and the Daily Trucking of Charles City. It wasn’t until the age of 87 when he finally decided to retire. Ralph’s beloved wife, Dorothy, died on August 26, 2010 at the age of 84. Due to his declining health, he became a resident of Linn Haven in January of 2014.

Ralph also went to Catholic School with my Mother, Mila Mae (Eschweiler) Meyer, and as I spoke with her on the weekend of March 14th, she expressed her condolences to the existing family. She, Mila Mae, at 93 years young remembers many good times in school with Ralph. Mary Jo Love, for Mila Mae Meyer
Ralph and Dorothy were our neighbors south of New Hampton for over 40 years. Every time I came home to visit my family, I took the time to visit with them. Ralph was always very happy and jovial about life in general. He was very proud of his children and always took the time to share new things with us about them. All the years Ralph drove truck, he was always gracious about having good enough health to continue on driving. We want Peggy, Nancy, and Paul, to know that our deepest sympathies are with them during this most difficult time. Please know that you are in our continued prayers here in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Richard and Mary Jo Love
Truly sorry for your loss. May those fond memories shared together be foremost in your hearts and minds as you cope during this difficult time. ( Isaiah 25:8)
