Phillip Fliger

Phillip John Fliger, age 71, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Genesis Care Center, Des Moines, IA. There are no funeral services planned per his wishes. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the New Hampton Cemetery. Phillip was born on December 7, 1952 to Alfred and Betty (Walters) in New Hampton, IA. He was their fourth child and had two brothers and two sisters. He graduated from New Hampton High School in 1971 and then attained a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA. Phil worked for the State of Iowa for a number of years before retiring due to his disability of being legally blind. His hobbies included computers and collecting model cars. He enjoyed all animals, especially dogs and cats. Phil is survived by two brothers, Dan (Pat) of Ankeny, IA and Andy (Marilyn) of Cedar Rapids, IA; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and two aunts. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Judy and Margaret. The family wishes to express its deep gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers at Genesis Care Center, the Mitchellville Care Center, Mitchellville, IA and the Hospice of the Midwest for their compassionate and loving care and support shown to Phil and his family during his time there.
