Pauline Lois (Ehlert) Eckenrod was born on October 16, 1923 to William and Emma (Popenhagen) Ehlert in Sumner, Iowa. She attended country school in the Sumner area and graduated from Sumner High School in 1939. She attended Upper Iowa College in Fayette, Iowa receiving her teaching certificate. Pauline taught school at the Republic Country School near Nashua until 1946. She was united in marriage to Donald Eckenrod on July 2, 1946 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stapleton, Iowa. The couple lived on several farms in the area until purchasing their farm northwest of New Hampton in 1978 where they resided until Dons death. Pauline worked at several local businesses which included Liddles Super Valu. She enjoyed, sewing, cooking, gardening,her cats and her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Pauline is survived by her children Beverly (Sidney) Hoy of Davenport, IA, Jim (Julie) Eckenrod of New Hampton, Linda (Joe) Koenigsfeld of Ionia, IA, Rhonda Fleming of West Richland, WA, Suzanne Wussow of Bradley, IL, Craig (Alice) Eckenrod of Jessup, MD, and Allen (Eileen) Eckenrod of Poulsbo, WA; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister Bernice Ameling of Waucoma, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Emma Ehlert, husband Donald on January 17, 2002, one grandson Eric Koenigsfeld; and one great grandson Bryce Koenigsfeld. Cemetery: Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton, Iowa. Visitation: Visitation will be from4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Service: Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey and Pastor Joel Dahlen officiating.

  1. Craig Family, Please accept our deepest sympathy regarding the loss of your mom. We pray that the good Lord comfort you all at this time of need. I must share that while in Omaha last week on business, I crossed into Iowa for my very first time and of course was thinking of you at that time. Having lost both my mom and dad in 2003 2005, I know that it is never easy. I believe that now your mom is in a even better place along with my folks and other love ones. God Bless you all.   8. Trish and I are sorry to hear about the passing of Pauline. You were very blessed to have such a wonderful mothergrandmother. I remember seeing her at the New Hampton activities watching her grandchildren perform. She was their biggest fan. Trish and I live out by Poulsbo now. Trish has a mother and brothers living in Poulsbo and our son lives in Brmerton. We live on Bainbridge Island. We moved here in 2000. I noticed Allen lives in Poulsbo. Doug and Trish Betten.

  9. Dear family of Pauline Eckenrod, We were so surprised to see that your Mom had passed away on the same day as our Mom. As cousins, I bet when they reached heaven they said at the same time Im so happy to see you, we havent had a good chat in a long time!! It is hard to let your parents go, but when they are suffering it is hard to ask them to fight to stay. Big familes are a blessing at times like these. You have our deepest sympathy.
