Paulette L. Trewin age 70 of New Hampton died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating. Dennis Strum will be the organist accompanying the congregation singing, “How Great Thou Art” and “Softly And Tenderly”. Lisa Trewin will sing “The Lord’s Prayer”. Paige Hulne will be the crossbearer. Private family inurnment will take place at the New Hampton City Cemetery with A. J. Feind, Joe Feind, Sean Feind, Tim Schmidt, Charlie Roth, Michael Wright and David Guzower Jr. as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2013, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Paulette Leone Trewin was born July 5, 1943, in New Hampton, IA, the daughter of Sjur and Andrena (Johnson) Attleson. She received her education in New Hampton and was a 1961 graduate of the New Hampton High School. Paulette attended Cosmetology school in Waterloo and was a local beautician for several years. In 1965, she married David Trewin. To this union three daughters were born. The couple later divorced. After living in several states and having several careers, Paulette and her young family moved back home. In 1979, she met the love of her life, Jim Hulne. The couple thoroughly loved their life together, and were rarely seen without each other. Paulette loved to dance, was a beautiful singer and liked writing poetry. Family and friends were everything to her. Her children’s friends were treated as if they were her own, making the Trewin home a popular place to be. She was a loving, caring and kind person. She ended every conversation with her family, “I love you, stay beautiful”. She will be remembered by her family as a person who always put others first and worked tirelessly in the community to help others. Survivors include her husband, Jim Hulne of New Hampton; two daughters, Lynn Guzower (Richard) of Kissimmee, FL and Lisa Trewin of Houston, TX; one step-son, Michael (Janine) Wright of Coralville, IA; four step-daughters, Jacque Gharib of Iowa City, Kris (Todd) Metzler, Roni Hulne, Amy Kroeger all of Omaha; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Palmer “Bud” Attleson of Denver, CO, Jim Attleson of Lindsborg, KS and Dick (Adrianna) Attleson of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, DeeAnn Trewin; three sisters, Signora Goss, Melba Gilbert and Karen Feind.

  15. Jim, Lynn, Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about Paulette’s passing. It was so good to see Lynn in June and wished I could have seen Paulette. Paulette was like a second mother to me when Lynn and I were in Junior High and High School and my fondest memory of Paulette was her showing me how to make taco salad. I have made that salad several times through out the years and every time I do I think of Paulette and the fun I would have when I spent time with my best friend and my second mom.   28. Jim, Lynn, Lisa and family: I have so many wonderful memories of doing things with Paulette. She was great to work with and we shared many craft experiences. Our biggest laugh came when we thought a tornado was coming and I was trying to help her get down the steps after she had surgery. We made it but lucky for us it never came. I will treasure the happy memories as I am sure you will. She was way too young to join the choir in heaven. Judy
