Norma Jean Kerr age 85 of Fredericksburg died Saturday evening, May 30, 2009 at her daughters home in Waterloo. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the United Methodist Church, Fredericksburg, with Pastor Shirley Will officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg, with Dan Kerr, Brad Kerr, Todd Kerr, Perry Peterson, Joel Lang, Eric Beier and Gene Rhea serving as pallbearers. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg and an hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Norma Jean Kerr was born near Saude, IA, on December 10, 1923, the daughter of Andrew and Sadie (Johnson) Urness. She attended the country school in Saude. On October 4, 1942, at the former St. Olaf Lutheran Church in New Hampton, she married Vernon “Stub” Kerr. To this union three children were born. The couple lived their entire married lives in Fredericksburg where Norma had worked at Meinerz Creamery and the the Ott & Forsman Egg plant. In her later years she cleaned houses in Fredericksburg. Norma enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include one son, Ron of Sumner; one daughter, Jane (Rick) Morgan of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Andrew (Jane) Urness Jr. of St. Paul; two sisters, Hazel Buehler and Donna Waltz, both of Waterloo; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon “Stub” Kerr on December 1, 2005; her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Don Peterson; two sisters, Alice Daily and Lois Anderson.

  1. I was so glad to see Aunt Norma in April and shared the good times we had. Jim and I will always remember when Norma and Stub stopped at our home in Nampa for a couple of days, and we always loked forward to Turtle when we were in Iowa. Our prayers go out to Jane and Ronnnie and all the rest of the families.

  10. I love my Grandma Kerr as much as I miss her up in heaven. She has done a lot for me. And I know how it makes everybody feel. She will be missed by a lot of people. Me and my family miss her.
