norbert burgart
Norbert Clayton Burgart, 71, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2023, at Northeast Georgia hospice after a 4-5 year battle with liver cancer. The family invites you to respectfully celebrate the life of Norbert by joining them for a visitation at the Holy Family Gathering Space on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 9:00 AM, with the funeral to follow at 10:30 AM at the same location in Holy Family Church in New Hampton. Father Jim Goerend will celebrate the mass. Inurnment with military honors will follow the funeral mass at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton, IA. Norb, one of nine children, was born on November 29, 1951, to Marvin and Elma Burgart in New Hampton, Iowa. After graduating, he ventured to Florida to work with his brother Mike for several years. Being a man of many skills, he pursued everything from truck driving to caretaking of the elderly. He lived in various places and was a helping hand to everyone he met. He was known for his photographic memory, as he never forgot a face, or a name, or an incident, in detail. Norb’s unique perspective on life, coupled with a great sense of humor, brought a smile to many conversations. And, if that didn’t make you smile, his infectious laugh would. Norb is survived by two sons, Marvin Mountz and Nicholas (Amanda) Mountz; three grandchildren, Mason, Briella and Macy, all of Barberton, Ohio; eight brothers and sisters, Rose Holschlag of New Hampton, IA, Ruth (Dick) Zuehl of Matthews, NC, Mike (Colleen) Burgart of Fort Lauderdale, Fl, Beverly (Paul) Veres of Wilmington, NC, Judy (Louie) Hafner of Braselton, GA, Tim (Peggy) Burgart of Nashua, IA, Kathy (David) McGraw of Tiger, GA, and Don (Janice) Burgart of New Hampton, IA; and many, many nieces and nephews. Norb is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Richard Holschlag.
