Michelle D. Anderson age 48 of Marion, IA, formerly of New Hampton died Saturday, February 13, 2016, from injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident near Hayward, Wisconsin. The family invites you to gather together and share your stories and celebrate Michelle and her life well lived from 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2900 42nd St Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at the Jerico Lutheran Church, rural Lawler, IA, with Rev. Daniel Larson presiding. Military honors will be conducted by the New Hampton American Legion Post. Friends may greet the family beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Michelle Diane Anderson was born May 2, 1967 the daughter of David and Phyllis (Howard) Anderson. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1985 and attended Hawkeye Community College, Iowa State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Park University. Michelle worked as the Senior System Engineer for the Federal Court system in Cedar Rapids, IA. Previously she worked at Sprint in Overland Park, KS and Kubik in Leavenworth, KS. Prior to that she served her country in the U.S. Army in military intelligence for six years. Throughout her careers she lived in Germany, Korea and Honduras and found her passion for travel. She journeyed across the world and preferred to do it in the company of her family and friends. She couldn’t wait for the next trip! She was always a willing companion to a new adventure, all you had to do is ask. Michelle touched the lives of so many that way, with her willingness to accompany you to the ends of the earth, or the bar down the street. Generous to a fault, faithful and loyal to her core Michelle’s zest for life and her trademark laugh will echo in the hearts and halls of all that loved her. Michelle loved golfing, reading, her kitties, video games, movies, and most importantly her family. Her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her parents David and Phyllis Anderson of New Hampton; two sisters, Lori (Missy) Anderson of Marion, Cheryl (Paul) Anderson of Alta Vista; two brothers, Greg (Sally) Anderson of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Brian (Karissa) Anderson of Robins, IA; nieces and nephews, Joshua, Stephen, Tony, CJ, Emma, Brianna and Kellsie Anderson, Sarah (George) Tzomides, Jacob and Terra Rosonke; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

  1. I met Michelle in Germany. I was in the Army and she was a civilian employee. We struck up a friendship and eventually shared an apartment together. We had some great times going to festivals with friends. I remember your cat Henry. Loved that cat. Rest in eternal peace my friend. Becky Hubbard

  3. Little did I know that Christmas 2015 would be the last time we would ever see her alive again. – On this Earth anyways. My heart goes out to every single family member, friends also. My favorite memory of Michelle would be when she was a little girl , she had come to our house , I don’t remember why . I just remember that my Dad and she took a nap one afternoon and she always fell asleep with her butt up in the air. Just as a cherub would do. A sweet memory that will last a lifetime.Since she is in heaven now, can’t you just picture her sleeping on a cloud surrounded by love and family that passed before her.
