Melissa Sue "Missy" Schweer age 41 of New Hampton died peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, in New Hampton surrounded by her family. Missy courageously fought brain cancer for the last 14 years. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey presiding. Interment will be in the New Hampton City Cemetery. Friends may greet the family 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday. Melissa Sue Schweer was born On October 2, 1976, in Mason City, IA. Everyone called her Missy. She started her working career at Hardee’s, Tri-State Signing and most recently at DECO in Decorah. Missy had a passion for animals and enjoyed volunteering at the Humane Society in Decorah. The dogs and cats enjoyed her as much as she enjoyed them! Missy loved the outdoors, her little flower garden and her feisty puppy RoseMary. In her free time she liked watching Netflix, animals, doing crafts, listening to music, playing games and visiting with friends. She looked forward to going to Country Jam every year. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Quenten, Hailiegh, Daykotta and Dillion; her mother, Cindy Ohm of Lawler; brother, Kris (Kristy) Schweer of Manchester, IA; her maternal grandmother, Caroline Ohm of New Hampton; Aunt, Vicki Brummond of DeSoto, WI; niece, Mavrik Schweer; nephew, Knoxin Schweer; cousins, RB Brummond and Nick Brummond. She will be met in heaven by her maternal grandfather, William “Bill” Ohm.
