Mary Lou Kellogg age 85 of Fredericksburg, IA died Monday, October 9, 2017 at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton. Funeral services will be held11:30 a.m.Friday, October 13, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton, IA with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating. A private family burial will be at a later date. Friends may greet the family from4:00 – 7:00 p.m.Thursday October 12, 2017at the Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, IA with further visitation one hour prior to the service at the Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton, IAon Friday. Mary Lou Kellogg was born July 3, 1932 in rural Westgate, IA, the daughter of Alvin and Bernice (Zubrod) Dietrich.She attended country school thru 8thgrade and graduated from West Central Maynard in 1950.Mary Lou started working at Rath Packing Company in the Administration Buildingfor several years.Mary Lou worked 29 years at Beatrice, Mienerz and Con Agra in Fredericksburg, IA as a Lab Technician, retiring in 1995. Mary Lou stumbled upon Chuck Kellogg in an aisle at the Fredericksburg Food Center. The couple went on a date thatSaturday and weremarried September 17, 1988, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton, IA. Mary Lou enjoyed being a seamstress. She loved watching cardinals in her backyard and collected rocking horses. In the springandsummer months, Mary Lou kept busy gardening and tending to her flowers. She loved to be in the kitchen baking and cooking,especiallymaking homemade bread and rice krispy bars. Mary Lou and Chuck loved to go on drives all over the country in their “Buick”. Mary Lou also cherished the time spent with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary Lou was a member of Eastern Star and the McDonalds Coffee Club. Mary Lou is survived by her husband Chuck Kellogg of Fredericksburg, IA; four daughters, Christie Shever of Elma, IA, Lynn (Duane) Wilkens of Fredericksburg, IA, Susie (Anon) Anderson of Fredericksburg, IA, Theresa (Tim Byrnes) Chipera of Cresco, IA; two step-sons Tim Kellogg of Hartford, WI, Ross (Lori) Kellogg of Nashua, IA; and two step-daughters Sherry (Everette) Mahler and Shannon Kellogg of New Hampton, IA.
