Mary Catherine Frese was born September 24, 1956, in Algona, IA, the daughter of Lando J. and Agnes P. (Haus) Mishak. Her education began at St. Cecelia Catholic School in Algona and when the Mishak family moved to New Hampton, she attended the New Hampton Middle School and was a 1975 graduate of the New Hampton High School. She went on to receive her Bachelor Degree in Education from the University of Northern Iowa. While still in high school, Mary met Milton “Chub” Frese and they dated until their marriage on June 23, 1979 at the United Congregational church in New Hampton. They were blessed with two sons, Dominic in 1982 and Colin in 1986. Mary began a long-time career in education at the kindergarten level. She continued teaching remedial reading and following the receipt of her Master’s Degree, she became the Technology Coordinator for the last several years. Mary had received a Fulbright Scholarship through Iowa State University and traveled to Russia recently. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister-in-law, Jane Mishak to the Azores in Portugal. In her free time, Mary had a passion for reading, golfing, computers and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers, but especially her grandchildren. She recently had a chicken coop built in the backyard and enjoyed raising the chickens and collecting eggs with her grandchildren. Time visiting with friends and family were important to Mary and she loved and cared for them dearly. While Chub would golf on Wednesday, that day was reserved for her ‘Wednesday Wine Club’; a time to get together with neighbors and friends. She will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known her. Left to cherish Mary's memory, is her husband, Milton “Chub" Frese; two sons, Dominic (Michele) Frese of Kenosha, WI and Colin and fiancé Haley of Cedar Falls; two beautiful grandchildren, Isabelle Frese and Avriel Frese; one brother, Frank (Marlys) Mishak of Clear Lake; one sister, Karen (Brian) Bezoenik of Milwaukee; two sisters-in-law, Diana Mishak of Denver, CO and Jane Mishak of Redlands, CA.
