Marvel D. Erion, age 84, of Alta Vista, IA passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Marvel D. Erion was born on March 27, 1931 to Harvey and Anna (Tjaden) Erion in Elma, IA. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista. He graduated from Alta Vista Public School. On June 23rd, 1952, Marvel was united in marriage to Leola Haeflinger at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on a farm East of Alta Vista, where they raised their six children, Terry, Rick, Gale, Shari, Tracy and Scott. Marvel spent his life doing what he loved most, farming. In addition to farming he also was a Pioneer Seed salesman for more than 30 years. After "retiring" from farming he continued to provide his expertise to his children who continued to farm. Marvel enjoyed visiting with his friends and family, attending farm shows and shopping for farm equipment and vehicles. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista; and served as a council member on the church board, as well as, various aspects of the community. Marvel was also eager to help the Mennonite community in many ways. Left to honor his memories are his wife, Leola "Lee" Erion of Alta Vista; his children, Terry (Carol) Erion of Denver, IA, Rick (Theresa) Erion of Floyd, IA, Gale (Kym Olson) Erion of Alta Vista, IA, Shari (Douglas) Wyant of Riceville, IA, Tracy (Bruce) Hansen of Story City, IA and Scott (Connie) Erion of Alta Vista, IA; their 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Erion of Bella Vista, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Orlo (Delores) Erion and Milton Erion; three grandchildren, Elissa Erion, Austin Erion and Patrick Wyant
