Mark Leonard Tieskotter, age 77 of Lime Springs, IA, died Friday, August 7, 2026, at WinnMed Hospital in Decorah, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, with Rev. Jon Seda celebrating the Mass. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Lawler.
Friends are invited to greet the family from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary. Visitation continues one hour before the Mass at the church on Wednesday.
Mark Leonard Tieskotter was born on April 6, 1949, to Andrew and Bernadine (Tellman) Tieskotter in Cresco, IA.
He received his elementary education at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Protivin and attended high school at Turkey Valley Community School in Jackson Junction.
He married Margaret McBrady in 1973. They later divorced. From this marriage, two children were born: Joe and Laura.
On October 13, 1984, he married Diane Vrzak. They had two children, Brian and Amy.
Mark milked cows for his dad and helped on the farm until 1994, when he started working at Atwood in West Union, IA. He worked there for 14 years while still helping on the family farm. They moved to Cresco in December 2010, then to Lime Springs in 2016. Mark was a member of the Lime Springs Pool and Park board and the Lime Springs Lidtke Mill board. He was a member of the Norte Dam Parish in Cresco, IA.
He loved working outdoors, gardening, and landscaping. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, playing cards, and working on puzzles.
Mark was also an avid bingo player and even started a bingo hall in Lime Springs, IA with his wife and a friend.
Mark is survived by his wife, Diane, of Lime Springs, IA; his children Joe (Karen) Speigel of Idaho, and Laura Carlson of Idaho; his son Brian (Nicole) Tieskotter of Faribault, MN; and his daughter Amy Tieskotter of Charles City, IA; three grandchildren, Emma Shannon, Eric Shannon, and Zeke Tieskotter; four brothers, Dennis (Kathy) Tieskotter of Lawler, IA; Daniel Tieskotter of Harpers Ferry, IA; Roy Tieskotter of New Hampton, IA; and Gerald Tieskotter of Little Turkey, IA; three sisters, Mary (Joe) Roybal of Platteville, CO; Marti (Marv) Andera of Cresco, IA; and Maxine (Robert) Friedman of St. Ansgar, IA; one sister-in-law, Marlene Tieskotter of Fredericksburg, IA; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard Tieskotter and David Tieskotter.
