He was born on November 8, 1935, to Alfred and Irene (Besler) Bush, the youngest of seven children. Marion spent his formative years on his parents’ farm in Buchanan County, where he developed a deep love for agriculture, helping with dairy, pigs, beef cattle, and various crops.

After attending country schools in Buchanan County, Marion graduated from Lamont High School. It was at a dance at the Oelwein Coliseum that he met the love of his life, Patricia Fox. Their shared passion for dancing blossomed into a beautiful marriage on June 8, 1963, at Arlington Lutheran Church. Together, they welcomed four children into their lives.

The couple first settled near Lamont, briefly moving to Hawkeye, before establishing their home in Fredericksburg. Marion’s love for farming was evident throughout his life; he took great pride in raising baby pigs from farrow to finish, and he diligently grew corn, beans, and hay. His family fondly remembers days spent picking rock and working together on the farm, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Marion was actively involved in his community, serving on the Farm Bureau Board and the Fredericksburg School Board. His faith was a cornerstone of his life; he was a devoted Christian, serving as chairman of the church council at St. Peters Richfield and as a deacon. His dedication extended to the fields, where he earned numerous accolades in corn-growing contests through Pioneer Seed Company.

In addition to farming, Marion enjoyed fishing, dancing, bowling, deer hunting, and playing cards and card club, especially the game of 500 with his family and friends. He also loved a rousing game of Dr. Mario on the Nintendo every day after lunch with Pattie. He embraced life with joy and laughter always valuing the time spent with loved ones and his young at heart attitude.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bush of Fredericksburg; two sons, Jeff (Lesley) Bush of Dundas, MN, Darin (Gwen) Bush of Fredericksburg; two daughters, Lori (Michael) Whitsitt of Lakeville, MN, Kathy (Brian) Langreck of Fredericksburg; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Mason of Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Chad Thomas Bush; five siblings, Velma Bunting, Donald Bush, Robert Bash, Duane Bush, and Howard Bush.
