Marian Wilkens

Marian F. Wilkens, age 86, of Nashua, Iowa died Wednesday morning, February 25, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 28, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua with Pastor Thomas Hagen officiating. Lisa Wiebke will be the organist and lead the congregation in singing “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”, 'O Master, Let Me Walk With You” and “Abide With Me”. Travis Bouska will sing “On Eagles Wings”.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Parkersburg, Iowa with Kevin Stone, Bryan Junker, Stacy Wilkens, Gary Wilkens and Daryl Nagen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Marian's great grandchildren, Trevor Bock, Riley Bock, Madison Wilkens, Lanie Morris, Kade Mitchell, Abigail Payne and Kaylee Morris.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua and hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the Wilkens family.
Marian was born February 26, 1922, on the family home near Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Martha (Hendrichs) Edelman. She attended the Jefferson Township Country School #5 near Clarksville.
Marian was united in marriage to Willie E. Wilkens on February 15, 1949, in Allison, Iowa. To this union two children were born. They farmed in Parkersburg, Tripoli areas before moving to Wisconsin for a short time. They later moved to Fredericksburg where they farmed until retirement. Marian was active in the farm operations and even milking when Willie worked at John Deere. She also worked at Mienerz Creamery in Fredericksburg for a number of years. The couple moved to Nashua following retirement in December of 1989. Willie passed away on February 28, 1995. Marian continued to live in her Nashua home. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and enjoyed her hobbies of painting, going for walks, fishing, gardening and raising flowers. Marian loved being with her family most of all.
She is survived by her son, Duane (Lynn) Wilkens of Fredericksburg; four sisters, Anna Nagen of Waverly, Dina Junker of Nashua, Margery Endelman of Parkersburg and Florence Schrage of Shell Rock; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Payne of Des Moines, Jenny (Gary) Bock of Sumner, Tisha (Jason) Morris, Sarah (Jimmy) Mitchell, Robert (Jessica Bruch) Wilkens all of Fredericksburg; seven great-grandchildren.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Willie; one daughter, Shirley Wilkens; her parents; two brothers, Harry and Siebert Endelman; one sister, Tina Wilkens.
