Margaret was born on November 2, 1936, to Joseph and Agnes (Bruess) Schlichte in Waucoma, Iowa. She graduated from Waucoma High School and was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Kleve on May 3, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waucoma. Together they made their home farming west of Waucoma and were blessed with three sons.

In addition to working alongside Gene on the farm, Margaret was employed with Head Start of West Union and Fayette, as well as Lynch Livestock of Waucoma. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family and her many passions—baking, cooking, tending to her yard and flower beds, bird watching, playing cards, and cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events. A woman of strong faith, Margaret was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church throughout her life and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over 60 years holding many offices within the organization.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Keith (Carla Engelhardt), Kevin (Jan), and Kerry L. (Marjie); six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Woodard, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Schlichte; her husband, Gene; her brother, Edward Schlichte; her sisters, Lorraine Eichenberger, Rose Riha, and Irene Weigel; and her grandson, Brandon Kleve.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported Margaret with love, prayers, and kindness.
