Margaret Ann Conley of Goleta, CA, formerly of New Hampton, died September 29, 2010 in her home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Santa Barbara, CA; on October 6. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 23, 2010 at Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton. Margaret Ann Conley was born on June 16, 1915, in New Hampton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Francis J. and Jensena Larson Conley. Her father was the Chickasaw County Attorney for most of Margaret’s childhood. She graduated from St. Joseph Elementary School, New Hampton High School and the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, MN. For most of her professional career, Margaret was a social worker with the City of Los Angeles School District. After her retirement, she moved to Goleta, California, a suburb of Santa Barbara. Margaret continued to enjoy her hobbies…golf, piano, and reading. She was a long-time member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Santa Barbara, active as a choir member and serving on many parish committees. She took advantage of many adult education classes at the local college. She also frequently attended the symphony, opera and other musical events in the area. Margaret died peacefully on September 29 in her own home, independent to the very end! Margaret was preceeded in death by her parents and her sisters Margery, Eileen, Mary, Francis and an infant brother, Francis and many relatives, including her cousin Gert Hintz. Margaret is survived by cousins, Gretchen Hintz Wronka, Bloomington, MN, Martin Hintz, Milwaukee, WI, Mary Teresa Wemark, Ridgeway, IA, Tom Barnes, Cresco; Jean Fitzgerald, Laguna Beach, CA, Nan Lazzaretto, Burban, CA, Jeanne Cissne, Milwaukee, WI. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends, including Rita Fox, Plymouth, MN, and the Reverand John Malone, St Paul, MN.
