Born in: East Chicago, Indiana

Manuel Gonzalez, age 84 of Tinley Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026.  Military Honors Service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.

Manuel was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and he lived and breathed that honor every day. He was active in the Marine Corps League and served as Chaplain, Head of the Colorguard, and Temporary Commandant.

You could find him spending time at the Chicago Jitterbug Club, as he loved to dance. He was also a hardcore Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He worked as a Drafting Engineer and Quality Control before retiring.

Manuel will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but he leaves us with many beautiful memories. Manuel joined his mother in Heaven just in time for Mother’s Day!

Manuel was a proud, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his 2 children, Theresa Hewitt (Roy) and Michael Gonzalez (Liz). He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Kenny), Matthew (Audrey), Justin (Alexa), Michaela (Jared), Michael (Morgan), Anthony (Nicole), Katrina (Chad), and Delana. Also, 15 great grandchildren, Emery, Leyton, Collyns, MaKenna, Jack, Lily, Aspen, Holland, Ian, Luke, Zeke, Titus, Silas, Iris, and one on the way.  He also leaves behind 7 siblings, Pete (Carol), Carmen (Armando Sr.), Francisco 11 (Sharon), Arthur, Lupe (Alan), Joseph (Elizabeth), and Robert.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Gonzalez, his parents, Francisco and Dora Delgado, and his sister Dora Gutierrez.
