Magdalena Tenge age 95 of North Washington, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington with Rev. Mark Osterhaus celebrating the Mass. Lector for the service will be Rachelle Corkery. Presenting the offertory gifts will be Magdalena’s grandchildren. Ann Bennett will be the organist accompanying the Immaculate Conception Men’s Choir. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Washington with Kendall Rosauer, Keith Rosauer, Bob Tenge, Kevin Tenge, Ronald Tenge and Gary Tenge serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Lisa Flick, Karla Denner, Rachelle Corkery, Tammy Flick, Karen Knutson, Lora Dungey, Teresa Gleason, Regina Fangman, Sabrina Tenge and Sarah Somasegaran. Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 4:30 p.m. parish scripture service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Online condolences forMagdalena's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com Magdalena was born September 23, 1917, on the family farm near Ionia, IA, the daughter of Anthony and Catherine (Reiss) Wegner. Her father was killed in a farming accident when she was two years old. Her mother later remarried John Winter Jr. who was a great father-figure to Magdalena. On February 8, 1937, at St.Boniface Catholic Church, Ionia, she married Edmund Theodore Tenge. To this union seven children were born. The couple raised their family and farmed together in the North Washington area their entire lives. They built a new home in North Washington next to their son upon their retirement. Edmund died on November 11, 2001 at the age of 90. Magdalena became a resident of the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in February of 2010. Magdalena enjoyed spending free time crocheting and loved to play cards with the North Washington group. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Rosary Society. Survivors include five sons, Vincent (Pat) Tenge of North Washington, Wayne (Darlene) Tenge of New Hampton, Everett (Dianne) Tenge of Alta Vista, Dale (Diane Hackman) Tenge of Bassett and Richard Tenge of North Washington; two daughters, Carolyn Rosauer of New Hampton and Linda (John) Belisle of Mesa, AZ; twenty four grandchildren; forty one great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father; three sisters, Rose Tilkes, Regina Meirick and Anna Rodamaker; three brothers, Frank Wegner, Tony Wegner and John Wegner.
