Mabel Speicher

Mabel E. Speicher, 91, of Fredericksburg died Saturday afternoon, January 8, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg with Pastor Ronnie Koch officiating. The congregation will sing 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus' and 'Amazing Grace' with Brenda Speicher as organist. Pastor Koch will sing 'How Great Thou Art'.
Friends may greet the family from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg with Dennis Heussner, Charles Speicher, David Speicher, Joe Speicher, Gary Steege, Louis Whitnable and Bud Speicher serving as pallbearers.
Mabel E. Speicher was born November 29, 1919, on the family farm near Hawkeye, IA, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Begalske) Ungerer. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. Mabel received her formal education in rural country schools.
On November 26, 1940, Mabel was united in marriage to Leo K. Speicher at the Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. To this union, two sons were born, Keith & Dean. Mabel and Leo made Fredericksburg their home for the rest of their lives. Mabel worked for Ott & Forsman Produce for a time before becoming a full-time homemaker.
Mabel was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ladies Aide and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and was up for a game anytime. She loved gardening and was an avid walker.
Mabel is survived by her sons and their spouses; Keith & Barbara Speicher and Dean & Judy Speicher all of Fredericksburg; her brother, Clarence Ungerer of Taylorville, IL; two sisters, Clara Lewis of Ft. Collins, CO and Elsie Winter of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, Dena (Tod) Palmer, Jay (Tonya) Speicher, Susan (Johnpaul) Collins, Jill Connell, Karen (Bill) Pitz; nine great-grandchildren, Reagan, Gavin, Lauren & Kiki Connell, Emma & Ella Pitz, Zachary Palmer, Mercedez & Zaine Speicher and Zade Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo K. Speicher on June 12, 1996; and a great-grandson, Ryan Connell.
