Lynn Kenny Idler, age 66 of Bassett, IA passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Ionia Funeral Home in Ionia, IA with Chaplain Brad Wysomierski officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City, IA. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Lynn's Shop on Highway 18 in Bassett, Iowa. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday. Online condolences for Lynn's family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family. Lynn Kenny was born January 12, 1949, the son of Kenneth and Darlene (Bigelow) Idler. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1967. Following high school he and his brother-in-law Dennis George ran the Bassett Station where Lynn worked as a mechanic. On April 17, 1971 Lynn was married to Sandy Miller at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. The couple lived in Bassett where, Lynn and his brother-in-law Dennis went on to own the Highway 18 Truck Stop. While running the truck stop he would also help his dad and uncle tile fields. In the late 1970's Lynn, his dad and Dennis went on to own Idler and Son's Tiling until 1985. After tiling he began driving truck for Sonne Trucking, and in 1999 he began to drive truck for Hinz Ent. where he remained for 14 years. Racing was number one for Lynn. He began racing car number 146 at the age of 18 and it remained a passion for more than 35 years. Playing washers, beanbags, and cards were a high priority following racing. He also enjoyed working on cars and going to the casino with Sandy. Lynn is survived by his wife, Sandy of Bassett, IA; two sons, Todd Idler of Bassett, IA, Ryan Idler of Bassett, IA; sister, Joy (Dennis) George of Springfield, TN; special cousin, Bonnie Lore of Ionia, IA; special nieces Kim George of White House, TN, Michelle (Jeremy) Winter of Ionia, IA; great-niece and nephews, McKenzie, Will, and Lane Winter, Seth George; and many good friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt Mildred Bigelow and uncle Vern Idler.
