Lory Neil Miller age 77 of New Hampton, died Sunday, April 2, 2017, at his home. Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton. Lory Neil Miller was born December 17, 1939, in the Miller family home in Hawkeye, IA, the son of George and Evelyn (Kelly) Miller. He attended rural country school and was a 1957 graduate of the West Union High School. While in high school, he was active in the wrestling program. On December 1, 1962, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, St. Lucas, he married Ann Catherine Lechtenberg. To this union seven children were born. The couple later divorced. Lory had worked for farmers in the Hawkeye and West Union area and also worked for the former White Farm Equipment Company in Charles City for over 28 years. After the closing of White Farm, he worked at Hardees in New Hampton, Premier Casting in Waterloo and delivered the Sunday Des Moines Register for over 35 years. He was a Meals-On-Wheels Volunteer for two years. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, dancing, going to area casinos and listening to his favorite artist, Elvis. He loved time he could spend with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include four daughters, Donna (Joe) Gebel, Diane Krueger, Erin Miller (Scott Cleveland) all of New Hampton, Amanda (Aaron) Doty of Omaha, NE, one son, Ryan Miller of Waterloo; his former wife, Ann Scroggins of New Hampton; seven grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dina (Mark) Haskin of Denver, IA, Neoma (Allen) Balk of Waucoma; two brothers, Rolley Miller of West Union, Gary (Janet) Miller of Hawkeye, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel Miller in 1980; a daughter, Emily in infancy; sister, Shirley Baumler and brother, Stanley Miller.
