Lorraine E. Jakel age 79 of Nashua, Iowa died Saturday morning, August 4, 2012, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, Nashua with Pastor Okitakoyi Lundula officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may greet the family beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Lorraine E. Jakel was born June 28, 1933, in Waverly, IA, the daughter of Guy and Hazel (Harrison) Cook. She received her education in Shell Rock and graduated from high school there. In 1953, at the Air Force Base in Hawaii, she was united in marriage to Donald Albrecht. Lorraine worked as an LPN at the former Waverly Convalescent Home for many years. She and Donald loved square dancing, camping and traveling to Texas in the winter months. Don died in 2000. Lorraine loved her stuffed bears, being part of her circle at church, reading, traveling and flowers. She met Ray Jakel at a square dance and fell in love all over again. The couple were later married and took cruises together, enjoyed many bus trips together, square dancing and trips to Arizona and Texas. Survivors include her husband, Ray; two step-sons, Jeff Jakel of TX and Scott (Tami) Jakel of Osage; two step-daughters, Cynthia Jakel of Yuma, AZ and Judy Jakel of Evansdale; eleven step-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Fran) Cook of Marion; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Donald; one sister, Irene Orth; two brothers, Clyde Cook and Harold Cook.
