Loren Stapher

Loren E. Stapher, age 93, of New Hampton, IA died on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Loren E. Stapher was born on March 21, 1916 to Edward and Lydia (Pfalzgraf) Stapher in New Hampton, IA. He attended school in New Hampton and graduated from New Hampton High School. Upon graduating from high school Loren farmed in rural North Washington. In later years Loren painted farm buildings and homes.
Loren was a member and former deacon of the First Baptist Church. He was the former president of the Farm Bureau of Chickasaw County. Loren and Alice enjoyed spending their winters in Gilbert Arizona until 2000. In 2001 Loren entered the New Hampton Care Center and later entered the Manly Nursing and Rehab Center in 2003at Manly, IA.
Loren is survived by his three children Bethel (James) Lehmann of Buffalo, NY, Duane Stapher of Wildwood, IL, and Dwight (Kristy) Stapher of Flandreau, SD; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Dorothy M. Stapher on October 17, 1986; second wife Alice R. Stapher on February 6, 2005, and a brother Kenneth P. Stapher in 1978.
Cemetery:
Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation:
Visitation will be from 9:30am to 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton.
Service:
A memorial service will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Chapel in New Hampton with Pastor Rod Ankrom officiating.

Loren was one of my favorite people growing up in the Baptist Church. He and Dorothy would take me out to the farm and I learned all kinds of things! I wish I had more pictures of him from the Baptist Church days, but can not find them. If anyone has some to email me, that would be great!
Bethel, Duane, Dwight and family, I am sorry of your loss of your father. It is always hard to say goodbye to those we love. Remember the good times and the good memories you have shared over all the years. Families are Gods blessings for us to love and be loved. May you know the peace and love of Jesus in your hearts. Loren Dorothy were the first ones to invite us to their home for Sunday dinner when we moved to our farm and began attending First Baptist. Their hospitality and interest in our girls will always be some of our fond memories of your parents. We extend our sympathy to each of you. 3b4c1
I wish to extend my sincere sympathy to Bethel, Dwight Duane Stapher. I remember the many good times we had at your parents home when we all went to the Devon School, and I also remember going to my first Bible Camp by Clear Lake with you. Your parents were such special people and I know your father also will be never forgotten. You will remember me by Joyce Dahlen and now Joyce Hinz and I live in Charles City, Ia. We have many fond memories of our visits at Lorens and Dorothys farm. They were gracious and wonderful people, and we were blessed to have known them and called them “friends”. We regret that we are unable to attend the visitation and service this morning, because of work commitments. Please know that you are all in our many thoughts and prayers, and we miss your visits.
We would like to extend our sympathy to your family. We were neighbors of your Dad,to the south, from 1989 to 1996. He was the sweetest person Ive ever meet! Best neighbor we could ever have asked for! May God be with you in your time of need. Reg and Carolyn
