Leslie 'Pat' Acheson age 85 of Fredericksburg died Friday, December 18, 2015, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:30p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Rev. Mark Osterhaus presiding with Noah Fike, Kyle Acheson, Chris Renner, and Brian Clark serving as pallbearers.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Leslie Neil Patrick Acheson was born August 6, 1930, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Leslie and Mildred (Parrot) Acheson. He attended school in Minneapolis and was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis. Pat continued his education at a local Technical School, graduating from the Drafting program. Pat spent seven years in the United States Naval Reserve being Honorably discharged in 1955. Pat met the love of his life Marlene Belair and the couple was united in marriage on March 5, 1955, in Minneapolis, MN. To this union four children, Dawn, Leslie, Susan, and Michael were born.
Pat worked for the Clark Oil Company where his duties included opening the Clark Stations in Northeast Iowa. He worked for the company for 8 years. The family then moved to Cedar Falls, IA, Pat had taken a position with John Deere. He worked as a supervisor for 20 years retiring in 1985.
Upon retirement Pat and Marlene moved to New Braunfels, TX, where they spent the next 22 years of their retirement. Pat and Marlene moved to Fredericksburg, IA, in 2015.
Pat was an avid golfer and spent many hours on the golf course. He recorded 7 holes-in-one throughout his life. His last ace coming when he was 84 years old. He also enjoyed fishing and took many trips to Northern Minnesota fishing for walleye. Pat liked to hunt, woodworking, and gardening. He was a member of the Elks Club for over 30 years.
Pat is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marlene; three daughters, Dawn (Nick) Joblinske of Murrieta, CA, Leslie (Larry) Fike of New Hampton, IA, Susan Herrin of Irving, TX; son, Michael (Kolene) Acheson of Cedar Rapids, IA; ten grandchildren and eight grand-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Peggy Lavelle
