I love you Grandpa!
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Jim has great memories of the farm when he was a boy. We will try to make it up Monday.
Shirley, my fondest memories of your dad was when he was our bus driver in the early 1970’s. He always said ‘hi’, always smiled and never yelled at us. That was a really big thing for us as kids. My sincerest condolences to you and your family and know that with time, the happy memories become more frequent than the sad ones. I have thought of your dad often over the years when I drove by your house, taking my dad to Polashek’s. Wonderful memories of your dad.
Wintery days like this make me think of Leonard and the other Turkey Valley bus drivers. Back then, snow days from school were few and far between. They really battled the elements to get us to school safely. Leonard drove my bus route which was in the Reilly Ridge area. We were the second to the last stop coming home. One winter afternoon back in the 70’s, the weather was so bad that Leonard couldn’t go on and he had to stay overnight at our place. The kids from the last stop had to be taken home by tractor. Those were the good old days. I remember Leonard as a great guy and I extend my sympathy to the Lukes family.
