Lenora Goings

Lenora S. 'Cookie' Goings, age 98 of Nashua, died Thursday February 28, 2013, at the Liebe Care Center in Greene, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua with Rev. James Mann presiding. Interment will be held at Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City, with Todd Dietz, Paul Becthold, Jamey Welter, and Jeff Welter serving as pallbearers.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Lenora Sophronia “Cookie” Goings was born February 5, 1915 in Winter Haven, Florida the daughter of Ralph and Josephine (Wise) Oran. She received her education at Winter Haven grammar school. Upon completion she was hired by the William Roc Packing plant, where she would pack citrus fruit to be shipped around the world. After several years Cookie was hired by the Boeing Corporation and worked in the wiring division for eight years. Cookie served as a Corporal in the United States Army. After her service she met Donald D. Goings and the couple was married September 25, 1943 in Montgomery, Alabama. They were blessed with two sons Bill and Harold Goings.
Cookie was a very faithful person, reading the bible everyday and very active in The Little Brown Church. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and gardening. Cookie loved animals of any kind and always had a faithful pet by her side.
Cookie is survived by her two sons, Bill (Lisa) Goings of Derby, Kansas, Harold Goings of Charles City, IA; special friends, Jeff (Cherri) Welter of Nashua, IA; three grandchildren, Megan, Chad, and Grant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald; one sister, Hazel Goings in infancy.
